Our New Flower Bed!

A few weeks ago, we embarked on a garden project to clean up the old flower bed in our back yard. Previously, it was overgrown with weeds, a scrawny rose bush that screamed "let me die already!" and other unknown shrubs and plants.

After a lot of hard work on Adrian's part and buckets of sweat to match a Japanese game show...ta-da!

New concrete borders from Home Depot & solar lights from Walmart

This Moss Rose makes a great plant border. They are extremely hardy in the summer.
It survived the recent heatwave!

Tequila Mix Moss Rose - we purchased 2 trays at 40% off from Metropolitan Plant Exchange at Fort Lee, NJ. The sale is still on if anyone is interested in getting them.

Two years in Teaneck

Our second anniversary in Teaneck is less than 2 months away. We have put in a lot of work into improving the house both inside (new electrical panel, heater & boiler, washing machine & dryer and more recently, automatic garage door) and out or in other words, aesthetically.

Adrian, in particular, worked really hard to get our garden and yard in shape for summer. Here's a few shots of before and after.

BEFORE
September 2009
Over-grown shrubs, un-kept hydrangeas, weeds and creepers - all great for hiding creepy crawlies and intruders waiting to pounce on you as you enter your home

AFTER
July 2011
New grass thanks to Adrian's constant de-weeding, sowing of new grass seeds
and endless top -soiling

BEFORE

Wishing well with over-grown ivy

AFTER
July 2011
Wishing well - all cleaned up. In the process, we also got rid of the mole family which burrowed holes in our garden. Less place for them to hide these days!

Coming up...another garden project done!

Fourth of July 2011
by Adrian

The Township of Teaneck held its July 4th parade at 9.30am this morning. The three of us (Serene, Brandon and I ) walked less than ten minutes from our house to Queen Anne Road. As expected, there were lots of people kids and adults waiting for the parade to arrive. See for yourself from the pictures below.
