"Match.Com" Malaysian Style...Janji Baik Hati

My friend, Elizabeth found this photo so amusing that she forwarded it to our e-mail network recently. I'll have to do the translation in a bit.

The Malay male clearly has his own ways when it comes to finding a potential lady friend. He is definitely frugal (honestly, a cheap-ass! but bless his heart as he might just be a poor farmer). Free advertising such this one could be his only chance of finding love. Simply write your name, contact number, etc. on a piece of paper and stick it on a pillar in town. Ingenious or desperate??? You decide.

Translation for non-Malay speakers:
---------------------------------------------
Name: Mohammad Yunus from Jubai Village, Kedah. Age: 39 years old. I wish to find a divorced partner in her 30s. Divorcee with no children, ok. Divorcee with 1 child, ok. Interested persons please call 019-560 2192. Doesn't matter if you're not pretty. Must promise to be kind hearted.

Looks like Mohd. is looking for inner-beauty. Good luck finding your love match, Mohd.!

Praying Mantis

11.45 p.m. I was having a nightcap with Adrian when he saw an unusual visitor on our kitchen floor.

Hey there! A praying mantis. I still don't know how it got into the apartment. This fellow had a slim abdomen so I assumed its a male. I read on the internet that the female praying mantis' abdomen is heavier. And, they eat the male praying mantis after or during mating. That's a sadistic way to satisfy hunger & sexual appetite at once. A "dangerous liaison" indeed.

Anyway, this particular one was somehow eye-ing at me for some reason. Seems they have a 180 degree vision. As soon as I got up from my chair, he crept up to claim my spot and proceeded to give me this pose. You cheeky monkey!

He spent a few more minutes on the chair before I took him out to the garden. I forgot to tell him not to look for a girlfriend if he wanted to live.

From Culture Club to culture shock

"Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon, you come and go, you come and go..."
You are what you sing, George. Now you see him, now you don't. Boy George is not as famous as he used to be in his Culture Club Days. For those of you who grew up in the 80s, like me, we remember him best like this.

But, whenever BG is in the news, he must be doing something outrageously worth commenting, like when he tried to revive his musical career on Broadway with this freaky "wet-paint-drippin'-over-the-face" look. The show - Taboo, closed less than 3 months after opening. Would you waste your $60 just to see this?! I didn't think so either.

And finally, we woke up to this photo on the internet, newspaper and television. U-huh! BG sweeping the sidewalks of lower east side Manhattan. Poor BG was ordered by the court to 5 days of community work for falsely reporting a burglary in his apartment earlier this year. Why, why, why??? The police found drugs instead. Oh..oh!!! (I thought BG would be smart enough to chuck them out before the cops came).

Yup, he IS wearing capri pants. You have to give him A+ for humility though. Hey George, while you're at it could you mop my apartment too? It's smaller than the Depot, really.
