Happy Birthday!

Alex turned 4 on April 1st. We celebrated his special day at the Wiggles and Giggles Funplex at East Hanover, NJ. It was an afternoon of fun for the tiny tots, and for the adults too, who were bemused and amused by their antics :)

Alex and his dad, Allan

Going up & down, through the tunnel, etc.

Super-cute gal, Alexis who just turned 1

Alex going down the slide face first. "Shouldn't it be the other way round?" thought Alexis.

Here comes the cake. Yeah!!!

I have cake on my face and drool on my chin. Boy, this cake is DELICIOUS!

Alex's Second Birthday Party

We attended Alex's birthday party yesterday. I couldn't believe that another year has gone by!

Alex & his maternal Nana

Yup, Alex is now a big TWO year old. He is growing up fast and has a big heart. He doesn't mind sharing his toys with his fellow tots at the party. Now, that is a trait that would make every Godmother proud. This year the theme for his birthday party is Cars.

First comes the food...

Beef sticks

Gotta balance it with some veggie dip

Meatballs...they're great on a sub

Steaming hot lo-mein

Is that all? Of course not. Alex's paternal Nana came with more food -- pansit/fried vermicelli, salad, etc. but I was too busy blabbering away and forgot to take more photos.

Time to cut the cake...

Alex's Cars ice-cream cake

Help me blow the candles, Mommy!

Come on, come on...I want some cake!

Hopkins: Hey, don't forget about me!

Time to open the presents...

Here are some of Alex's presents. What, there's more?! Yup, someone is definitely the lucky one today. He has enough presents to fill the basement...!!!

Alex & his Cars book (from me, of course!)

Here comes Thomas & Friends!

Alex turns 1 today. No, this isn't an Aprils Fool joke. How time flies! The theme is Thomas the Tank Engine. Thomas balloons, paper plates, napkins and a special Thomas & Friends birthday cake. Yummilicious!

Around the house with Alex's toys and a cute bike from his Godfather. How cute! It comes complete with trainer wheels and an adjustable seat. Aww...!

As usual lots and lots of food - skewered meats, pot-stickers, mini quiches, cassava cake, apple tart, pansit, fried lo mein, meatballs, chicken & fruit salad, etc...!

Alex needs help with the candle. What am I supposed to do? Blow??? What's that??? Maybe Daddy will show me. Help me Daddy!

"This is complicated stuff," says Alex. Grown-ups do peculiar things isn't it? You'll understand some day ;) HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY BOY! Lots of hugs and kisses from God-Mom & Uncle Adrian.

Alex's first New Year

Xin Nian Kwai Ler! Alex (almost 11 months old!) was all dressed-up to greet the Year of the Pig. I received these photos from Mom Michele last Monday.

I hope you will come and visit us soon Alex :)

Having a rest by the wall?

Trust me Alex, you'll love the "Ang Pao" soon enough :)

Happy Halloween

I haven't been able to update my blog as frequently as I could. Been busy helping my Mom take care of my Grandmother & catching up with friends. A couple times, I have left the house in frantic excitement without my camera. I must remember to do that tonight!

Anyway, this latest photo of my godchild in New Jersey is too cute not to deserve a short mention. Alex is growing up fast. He is now about 7 months old & celebrating his first Halloween.

The "little monkey" & his Jack-O-Lantern candy caddy...awww!

Going to be a Godmother

About 2 weeks ago I received a phone call from a very dear friend. I knew her since we were young. We went to the same school back in my hometown and we're also somehow related through our grandparents. We lost touch but our path crossed a few years back when I moved here. We reconnected, attended her wedding and now she's a Mommy. A "full-circle" moment for her, as Oprah would say.

Anyway, she asked me if I would be her first child's godmother. Wow!!! I was honored and thrilled to bits. I immediately said "yes" and started to wonder what my role would be. Is it going to be social? Or, religious? Both, maybe?? Errr....So, I googled the word and found a site: What it means to be a Godparent

The article was a great help. Only 2 days to Alex's baptism on July 9th 2006 at 2 p.m.

P.S. Yes, it's the same day as the Fifa World Cup Finals but there are MORE IMPORTANT things in life than soccer :-)
