Hot Dogs!

I love dachshunds. They're cute, have a lovely temperament around people including children, plus they're good watch dogs.

Earlier today, we went to a dog show just for dachshunds, organized by the Dachshund Club of NJ at Bridgewater. We enjoyed looking at the different breeds, as well as getting to know the local breeders.

The one on the top left was a champion before but didn't compete today. Her "brother" on the top right was a finalist in the adult smooth category. Those pups absolutely melted our hearts. The tan coat in the cage? So precioussss.

More cute dachshunds. The black & tan competed in the puppy category and was in the top three.

Judging began with the junior handlers' category. The wire haired dachshunds were so well-behaved!

Proud owners and their little wieners winners from the various categories. I spotted a shy little fellow who stayed closed to his mommy. Aww..!

It was a heart-melting afternoon with a melting weather to match. Yes, the heat is ON!

Dachshunds are cool dogs but what they don't know is, they can never pee on their own teeny lil' leg..why do they still lift their legs while taking a piss ?

cooknengr: coz they're very prim about themselves. most dogs do that anyway. must be their natural instinct ;) regardless of breed.

mine was named currie (tiptree currie joe was his MKA pedigree name!)

he was so fat that when he used to hunt for rats in the drains, he'd get nicely stuck - he fits right in and couldn't get out. he'd be howling in the middle of the night!

i loved that dog - died of heart congestion when i was 10 and i was so emotional that i had hives for weeks after. doc said it was due to emotional stress :)
